Grosvenor Bridge

View from Chelsea Bridge

During lockdown in my hometown of Bournemouth it is interesting that the first print I completed was of Grosvenor Railway Bridge. This is not the most commonly known bridge over the Thames but when we live in London we see it every day when we cross Chelsea Bridge to go to work. There always seems to be a howling gale across the bridge and we battle against it and the huge tide of bikes which compete with us first thing in the morning. Grosvenor Bridge carries thousands of commuters into Victoria station, the trains roaring past packed ike sardines in a tin.

In the distance is the polythene clad Battersea Power station, right next to our flat. I love this iconic building, testiment to the industrial past of our capital, its red brick and tall cream chimneys are simple yet beautiful.  I wonder if when we go back, it will be clearly visible, with all the building work and alterations complete?

However much I love Dorset and I do, London has a place in my heart too and I miss it.

  1. I love the colors in this print! And the story you’ve written along with it.
The detailed work is transfixing. Love the reflections.
